Ride Into the Stillness

Ride Into the Stillness

Shimla

About the Experience

Ride into the Stillness is an intimate 50-kilometer cycling route through Shimla’s tranquil countryside landscapes that few travellers see. While the hill station bustles with visitors, venture into serene hinterlands where ancient pine forests whisper, clear streams flow through the Wildlife Sanctuary, and village life unfolds at nature’s pace. This route traces Asia’s most extensive Deodar forest, blending smooth paved sections with gentle gravel paths—engaging without overwhelming. Experience authentic Himalayan rural life: farmers tending terraced fields, chai brewing at roadside stalls, children walking home from school. This is slow travel at its essence—a chance to connect meaningfully with the land and its people.

I’ve been to Shimla many times, but this cycling experience showed me a side of the mountains I had never seen. Riding through the Deodar forest felt magical, the trails were gentle, and the only sounds were birds and the wind in the trees. Stopping for chai in a tiny village was the highlight. Truly the most peaceful 50 km I’ve ever done.
